About The Position

The Dietitian provides nutrition screening assessment, and education to patients to meet their nutritional needs as indicated by diet orders prescribed by medical staff. All services provided within the scope of practice for Registered Dietitians as defined by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Works in an interdisciplinary team fashion with other patient care providers.

Requirements

  • Maintains current registration through the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
  • Minimum completion of bachelor's degree (four-year accredited program) in Nutrition/Dietetics or related field.
  • One to two years clinical experience in a healthcare facility preferred.
  • CDE or CNSD may be beneficial.
  • Strong customer service skills preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform timely nutrition screenings and assessments in accordance with the Corporate Screening and Assessment Policy.
  • Perform nutrition focused physical exams on patients who are at nutritional risk.
  • Identify patients at nutritional risk based on established criteria.
  • Evaluate age specific, developmental and disease specific nutritional needs of patients.
  • Develop and implement individualized nutritional plan of care.
  • Evaluate and monitor the effectiveness and outcomes of medical nutrition therapy interventions.
  • Identify patient nutrition education needs and provide nutrition counseling to patients, family, and/or caregivers.
  • Participate in the competency assessment process and achieve a passing score of 80% or higher on RD chart audits.
