In this role, the successful candidate is responsible for providing optimum nutritional care to patients admitted to general medical, surgical or pediatric units through nutrition screening, assessment, support, counseling, metabolic monitoring, and medical team communication. Act as an ambassador for Food and Nutrition services while delivering world class care.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition Sciences or a related major.
  • Successful completion of a Commission on Accreditation for Dietetic Education (CADE) 1200 hour dietetic internship program with emphasis on clinical applications.
  • Successful completion of the Registered Dietitian (RD) exam approved through the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR). Must be obtained within the first six months of employment.
  • Certified Dietitian/Nutritionist (CDN). Must be obtained within 1 year of hire date.
  • Effective oral, written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Required Licenses: Dietetics-Nutrition-NYS, Registered Dietitian.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree in a healthcare related field.
  • Certification in a Nutrition specialty area (ie--CNSC, CDE).

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates knowledge of the organization's Service Standards and incorporates them into the performance of duties.
  • Plans work assignments accordantly and utilizes time effectively.
  • Provides assistance and contributes new ideas to the department.
  • Functions as a resource person to Nutrition Students/Residents and medical team regarding the nutritional management of patients admitted to own unit.
  • Participates in internship preceptorship.
  • Provides in-service education.
  • Actively participates in patient satisfaction initiatives, including unit rounding.
  • Assesses patient's nutritional status/risk effectively and plans appropriate treatment accordingly.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
