About The Position

This position will either be filled as a Dietitian I (Req: 26001108) or a Dietitian II. University of Iowa Health Care - Medical Center North Liberty department of Food and Nutrition is seeking a Dietitian II. This position uses nutrition care process to assess, evaluate, and provide medical nutrition therapy and nutrition counseling for patients in program areas as assigned. Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities: Provides quality care including nutrition screening, evaluation, assessment, treatment, and documentation of patient care plan appropriate for complex patients. Assesses nutritional status and instructs/counsels on appropriate diet. Participates as active member of departmental/hospital committees concerning problems affecting patients’ food habits and needs Participates in health team rounds and short-term projects. Participates on Clinical Master’s selection committee. Educates students with on-the-job training. Evaluates students. Provides students with necessary support and assistance to ensure work is completed. Educates/trains new personnel as assigned and acts as a mentor to new personnel. Conducts peer chart reviews/audits for Dietitian Seeks opportunities to enhance one’s own professional knowledge, skills, and development including research for publication/presentation. Lead monthly CEU program for dietitian staff. Obtain advanced credentialing. Serve as a clinical resource to peers. Maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students and the public. Functional supervision over Diet Clerks. Requirements

  • A masters degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Registration by the Commission on Dietetic Registration is required
  • Licensure by the State of Iowa is required.
  • Reasonable (5 years) clinical nutrition experience is required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated competency of patient care in pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations across a wide range of medical conditions in the inpatient and outpatient setting.
  • Experience in making enteral and parental recommendations and selecting appropriate formulas
