About The Position

This position will either be filled as a Dietitian I or Dietitian II (Req: 26001105). University of Iowa Health Care - Medical Center North Liberty department of Food and Nutrition is seeking a Dietitian I. This position uses nutrition care process to assess, evaluate, and provide medical nutrition therapy and nutrition counseling for patients in program areas as assigned. The new University of Iowa Health Care – North Liberty Campus is a 469,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility serving as the home of UI Health Care’s nationally recognized Orthopedics service line. It offers coordinated, comprehensive, and accessible care across outpatient, inpatient, and surgical settings. In addition to world-class orthopedic care, the campus features a full-service community imaging center, laboratory services, physical therapy, a retail pharmacy, an emergency department, and a wide range of support services. Requirements

  • A Master’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Candidates registered prior to January 01, 2024 a Bachelor’s degree in Foods and Nutrition or Dietetics is required.
  • Licensure by the State of Iowa is required.
  • Registration by the Commission on Dietetic Registration is required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.

Responsibilities

  • Provides quality patient care including nutrition screening, evaluation, assessment, treatment, and documentation of patient care plan appropriate for patient.
  • Educates students with on-the-job training.
  • Evaluates students.
  • Provides students with necessary support and assistance to ensure work is completed.
  • Assesses nutrition status and instructs/counsels patient on appropriate diet.
  • Participate as part of the medical team concerning problems affecting patients' food habits and needs and participate in health team rounds concerning patient care.
  • Assist in the implementation of studies and short-term projects.
  • Performs special projects as assigned.
  • Participates as active member of departmental/hospital committees.
  • Review and analyze production, maintenance of standards, costs and personnel utilization records to evaluate progress of work and to control or reduce costs.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students and the public.
  • Assists other dietitians as needed.
