About The Position

To provide nutrition-related expertise in the interdisciplinary team management of all ambulatory clinic patients including those within specialty area of HIV and Diabetes. Please consider this unique and rewarding opportunity to work in an ambulatory care clinic with a very special patient population, including those in the LGBTQ+ community. The Pittsburgh Area Center for Treatment (PACT) of HIV Clinic is seeking a dietitian to join the team. PACT is a Ryan White Clinic and part of the UPMC Center for the Care of Infectious Diseases (CCID). You will work among a dedicated and highly engaged team of doctors, nurses, social workers, and clinical pharmacist. The center provides comprehensive primary care to more than 1,600 persons 18+ years of age with HIV and ~150 patients with a comorbidity of Diabetes. The dietitian and pharmacist partner closely to manage the diabetes patient care needs including continuous glucose monitoring devices and insulin pumps. The position works only Monday thru Friday – off weekends and holidays. Ability to work in a hybrid setting (work from home) some days and have autonomy as the only clinical dietitian in the clinic. Yet the PACT dietitian reports directly to the clinic Practice Manager who happens to be a dietitian. There is also the ability to serve as a preceptor to dietetic interns from local programs. All dietitian experience levels are encouraged to apply. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Nutrition and Dietetics with Registered Dietitian certification obtained before January 1, 2026 with 4 years clinical nutrition experience required. OR Master's degree in Nutrition and Dietetics with Registered Dietitian certification obtained on or after January 1, 2026 with 3 years of clinical nutrition experience required.
  • Skills: Analytical skills to accurately assess, plan, and evaluate outcomes. Interpersonal skills to effectively interact with a diverse population and collaborate in a team environment. Strong nutrition education/counseling and mentoring skills. Critical thinking skills for sound decision making.
  • Registered Dietitian required.

Responsibilities

  • As required, knowledgeable about outpatient billing guidelines and performs necessary documentation to ensure compliance of client charges with regulatory requirements.
  • Appropriate execution of order writing as governed by the Dietitian Delegation Order system protocol.
  • Demonstrate effective communication methods as a collaborative member of the interdisciplinary care team.
  • Accountable as nutrition liaison/expert to assigned units & participate as a member of interdisciplinary committees, responding to needs and initiatives for nutrition care process improvement.
  • Contribute to maintaining standards of nutritional care current for the system.
  • Provide enhanced nutrition care to all patients including those within specialized patient populations using Medical Nutrition Therapy to include assessment, goals and plan of care.
  • Provide timely interventions as determined by Nutrition Risk level and the Plan of Care.
  • Formulate a Nutrition Diagnosis and identify Malnutrition through application of Nutrition Focused Physical Assessment and the nationally established criteria for identification of malnutrition.
  • Mentor and train dietetic students, interns and support personnel and provide feedback for student and program improvement.
  • Provide appropriate nutritional education and counseling based upon patient/family learning needs and abilities.
  • As required, demonstrate professional writing skills adaptable to all health literacy levels in preparing materials, presentations and other communications.
  • Provide in-servicing or CEU opportunities to the multidisciplinary team at the department, facility or system level annually.
  • Lead at least one annual department, facility or system based initiative or Quality Process Improvement activity through to completion annually with the ability to actively endorse evidence based practice.
  • Complete at least one professional contribution annually.
