About The Position

UPMC McKeesport is hiring a Part Time Dietitian, Advance Practitioner! This position will work varied days and times with weekends/holiday requirements. Title/salary will be determined at time of offer. Qualifications and salary listed are for Dietitian, Advance Practitioner. Dietitian I starts at $24.55/hour. Purpose: To provide an advanced level of nutrition-related expertise in the interdisciplinary team management of all hospitalized patients including those within specialty area.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Nutrition and Dietetics with 4 years Clinical Nutrition experience as a registered dietitian required.
  • OR Masters in Nutrition and Dietetics with 3 years Clinical Nutrition experience as a registered dietitian required.
  • Analytical skills to accurately assess, plan, and evaluate outcomes.
  • Interpersonal skills to effectively interact with a diverse population and collaborate in a team environment.
  • Strong nutrition education/counseling and mentoring skills.
  • Critical thinking skills for sound decision making.
  • Specialty certification required.
  • Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist (LDN) required
  • Registered Dietitian (RD) required

Responsibilities

  • As required, knowledgeable about outpatient billing guidelines and performs necessary documentation to ensure compliance of client charges with regulatory requirements.
  • Appropriate execution of order writing as governed by the Dietitian Delegation Order system protocol.
  • Demonstrate effective communication methods as a collaborative member of the interdisciplinary care team.
  • Accountable as nutrition liaison/expert to assigned units & participate as a member of interdisciplinary committees, responding to needs and initiatives for nutrition care process improvement.
  • Contribute to maintaining standards of nutritional care current for the system.
  • Provide enhanced nutrition care to all patients including those within specialized patient populations using Medical Nutrition Therapy to include assessment, goals and plan of care.
  • Provide timely interventions as determined by Nutrition Risk level and the Plan of Care.
  • Formulate a Nutrition Diagnosis and identify Malnutrition through application of Nutrition Focused Physical Assessment and the nationally established criteria for identification of malnutrition.
  • Mentor and train dietetic students, interns and support personnel and provide feedback for student and program improvement.
  • Provide appropriate nutritional education and counseling based upon patient/family learning needs and abilities.
  • As required, demonstrate professional writing skills adaptable to all health literacy levels in preparing materials, presentations and other communications.
  • Provide in-servicing or CEU opportunities to the multidisciplinary team at the department, facility or system level annually.
  • Lead at least one annual department, facility or system based initiative or Quality Process Improvement activity through to completion annually with the ability to actively endorse evidence based practice.
  • Complete at least one professional contribution annually.
