WORK SCHEDULE Full time, 40 hours per week DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION The Nutrition and Food Services department supports UWMC's mission by delivering extraordinary experiences with compassionate evidence-based care, unforgettable customer service, and fresh and nutritious food for patients, families, and the greater community. POSITION HIGHLIGHTS Dietary Unit Aide is responsible for maintaining an appropriate level of nourishment and supplements in the patient services stocking area. They inventory nourishments and supplements in the nourishment rooms and pull these supplies for all the nourishment rooms in the hospital. They also assist with stocking some of the supplies in the nourishment rooms. Additionally, they may provide break coverage to staff when needed.

Requirements

  • Possession of, or eligible to obtain a Washington State Food Worker Card within two weeks of employment
  • One year of experience as a Dietary Unit Aide in a health care facility or equivalent
  • High school graduation or GED
  • One year of additional experience may substitute for the educational requirement.
  • Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

Responsibilities

  • Serve in a guest relations role to patients and visitors; relay patient food requests/comments to the call center and/or supervisor.
  • Pick up soiled food trays from specific units.
  • Deliver or relay messages from nursing and other health care staff to the department.
  • Follow the hospital infection control policies and procedures and the department’s food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Inventory and stock supplies in the nourishment room.
  • Provide break coverage as needed.
  • Orient and train new employees as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
