Elderwood at Hornell is seeking a Dietary Technician to join our team. In this role, you will ensure the health and well-being of residents by managing, obtaining, and recording information related to their nutritional needs. You will work closely with residents, families, and the care team to support individualized nutrition plans and promote overall wellness. Why Work at Elderwood? We provide comprehensive rehabilitation programs including orthopedic, cardiac, and post-surgical care, along with physical, occupational, and speech therapy. Additional services include Respite Care, Seasonal Memory Care, Adult Medical Day Services, and Palliative Care. Requirements

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition required
  • High degree of personal cleanliness and good hygiene; health status suitable for food service
  • Ability to verbally communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff
  • Dependable, patient, and compassionate attitude toward residents
  • Ability to cooperate and work respectfully with all team members
  • Computer skills and ability to work in various software programs
  • This position requires regular interaction with residents, coworkers, visitors, and/or supervisors. In order to ensure a safe work environment for residents, coworkers, visitors, and/or supervisors of the Company, and to permit unfettered communication between the employee and those residents, coworkers, visitors, and supervisors, this position requires that the employee be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language at an intermediate or more advanced level.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with nutritional assessments and recording dietary information for residents
  • Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff regarding nutritional needs and dietary instructions
  • Follow resident meal plans and ensure dietary requirements are met
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in all food service areas
  • Cooperate with and support other staff members while maintaining respectful interactions

  • Perform all assigned tasks to a high degree of excellence, safety, and cleanliness
