The Dietary Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the preparation of all food items as per standardized recipes and special diet orders. Assists the Health Center Dietitian with the Health Center food service program and provides the level of supervision necessary to ensure that courteous and efficient service is delivered as well as high quality and nutritious foods. Here are a few of the daily responsibilities of a Dietary Supervisor: Assists in the planning, scheduling, and supervision of Health Center dietary staff. Assists in developing all menus and standardized recipes for Health Center residents assessing preferences and nutritional needs. Determines amount and type of food and supplies required for daily menus, placing food orders, and seeing that supplies are obtained from storage areas in adequate time for meal production. Assists in assuring staff education is provided to dietary staff and culinary team in accordance with the staff education plan plus provides on the job training for Health Center dietary staff. Assists in developing work assignments for all dietary staff assigning specific jobs and spot-checking work to ensure standards are met. Responsible for completion of hall trays and accuracy. Contact the dietitian if unplanned or special therapeutic diets are ordered. Assures that meal tallies are accurate daily. Assign cleaning schedules daily. Other Duties: Assists in providing on-the-job training for Health Center dining room staff. Inspects equipment to determine repairs or maintenance needs. Participates in cost control measures. Attends in-service training and education sessions as assigned. Performs specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor. Here are a few of the qualifications we need you to have: High School diploma/GED required. A minimum of two years supervisory experience in food service operations of a health care setting. Certified in safety and sanitation regarding food service. Experience in a long-term health care environment preferred. Ability to communicate with, understand, empathize with, work with and be tolerant of residents, families, visitors, peers, supervisors, and subordinates. Ability to interpret and explain menus, refer, or answer questions, coordinate meal service process and understand requests.
