About The Position

Morrow County Health District (MCHD) is seeking a full-time Dietary Manager in Heppner, OR. The Dietary Manager is responsible for directing the hospital’s food and nutrition services to ensure patients receive safe, high-quality meals tailored to their clinical and personal needs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum two years supervisory experience; healthcare setting preferred.
  • Knowledge of dietary operations, inventory management, and procurement practices.

Nice To Haves

  • Dietary Manager Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise department staff and direct daily operations in compliance with hospital laws OAR 333-520-0020, regulations, and district policies
  • Plan and maintain seasonal five-week cycle menus under the guidance of the dietary consultant to meet patient nutritional requirements.
  • Collaborate with the dietary consultant on quarterly and annual assessments and review patient dietary needs.
  • Monitor the electronic health system daily for new admissions or diet changes per physician orders.
  • Conduct periodic patient visits to assess preferences, allergies, and meal satisfaction.
  • Manage inventory and ordering of food service supplies; verify and check in deliveries against purchase orders.
  • Store stock using proper procedures (e.g., grouping similar items, front-facing labels, dating opened items).
  • Ensure staff maintain current Food Handler certifications and complete all required competencies and training.
  • Prepare and assist with special district events, including food transport as needed.
  • Summarize staff meal charges for payroll deductions.
  • Oversee meal preparation and service for patients, visitors, staff, and district-related functions.
  • Operate all department equipment safely and according to policy.
  • Ensure staff understand and utilize the Iowa State Diet Manual.
  • Conduct monthly staff meetings and in-service training sessions.
  • Ensure completion of safety inspections, drills, and staff education per policy.
  • Maintain department readiness for regulatory surveys at all times.
  • Represent the department at meetings and prepare required reports.
  • Work in the kitchen as a cook when needed to ensure the hospital Dietary department is fully staffed at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
