This role manages dietary staff, coordinates with clinical teams, and ensures adherence to regulatory standards, including state, federal, and Joint Commission requirements.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's in Nutrition, Food Service Management, or related field preferred
  • Minimum 2–3 years of supervisory experience in food service, preferably in healthcare or behavioral health
  • Strong knowledge of therapeutic diets, food safety regulations, and sanitation standards
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and manage competing priorities

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) or the ability to obtain certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, train, and schedule dietary staff to ensure efficient daily operations
  • Oversee meal planning, food preparation, and service delivery in accordance with physician‑ordered diets and nutrition guidelines
  • Ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and infection‑control standards
  • Maintain inventory, order supplies, and manage vendor relationships
  • Collaborate with clinical and nursing teams to support patient dietary needs
  • Conduct regular audits of kitchen operations, equipment, and documentation
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and quality‑improvement initiatives
  • Manage departmental budget and control food and labor costs
  • Ensure a positive, supportive, and safe environment for staff and patients
