About The Position

Mission Valley Post Acute is seeking a dependable and motivated full-time Dietary Cook. In this role, the cook will be responsible for preparing nutritious and flavorful meals that cater to residents' specific dietary needs, thereby enhancing their overall health and satisfaction. The position is crucial for ensuring a positive dining experience and contributing to the quality of care provided. PACS, the parent organization, was founded in 2013 and now comprises hundreds of independent operating subsidiaries, offering a mission-driven care model that combines national support with local decision-making. Requirements

  • Food Handler’s Certification (or ability to obtain upon hire)
  • Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
  • Ability to manage tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Dependable with strong attendance and punctuality
  • Effective communication skills and a team-oriented mindset

Nice To Haves

  • Prior cooking experience in healthcare, skilled nursing, or food service preferred
  • Familiarity with therapeutic and modified diets is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook meals according to established menus and specific dietary guidelines
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and infection control standards
  • Adjust meals to meet special dietary needs, including low-sodium, diabetic, and texture-modified diets
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen at all times
  • Assist with monitoring inventory and notifying leadership of supply needs
  • Store and label food properly to ensure freshness and regulatory compliance
  • Work collaboratively with dietary staff and clinical team to meet residents’ nutritional needs
  • Support meal service and ensure proper portion control
