About The Position

JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for preparation of meals for the hospital patients, employees and visitors. Answers directly to the Food Service Director.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent. Will accept technical school training or working with an experienced cook in lieu of diploma.
  • One to four years hospital, institution, or restaurant cooking. Less than one year experience as a cook, employee will start as cook helper.
  • Ability to use specific cooking utensils and equipment.
  • Ability to make good judgement decisions as to taste and appearance of food.
  • Hearing acuity sufficient to perform job functions
  • Verbal ability is required
  • Normal visual acuity required to read recipes and diets
  • Manual and finger dexterity is needed to handle kitchen utensils
  • Physical: 100 lbs.
  • Pushing up to: 150 lbs.
  • Manual Dexterity: High
  • Standing: 30-50
  • Walking: 30-50
  • Squatting: 00-20
  • Sitting: 00-20
