Requirements

  • At least one year of experience as a cook in a hospital, skilled nursing, or long-term care facility is required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to cook in large quantities, follow complex menus, and maintain harmony with personnel across all departments.
  • Willingness to supervise others and a commitment to maintaining high clinical and sanitary standards.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare tasteful, appealing meals for a variety of diets, ensuring food presentation is inviting for our residents.
  • Accurately prepare special diets and pureed foods to meet the specific clinical needs of our residents.
  • Follow prepared menus and portion control guides strictly; record food temperatures for every meal to ensure safety.
  • Manage and operate the kitchen in the absence of the Dietary Supervisor, including overseeing cleaning schedules and supervising staff.
  • Maintain the kitchen and cooking areas in a clean, orderly, and sanitary manner; ensure sanitizer buckets (quaternary solution) are properly maintained.
  • Assist with meal service and report any resident care concerns or potential issues directly to the Administrator or Director of Nursing.
  • Participate in the orientation and ongoing training of the dietary staff.
