About The Position

Prepares and cooks meals for residents and by performing the following duties. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Gathers all food needed for mealtime and reports any shortages to Food Service Director. Plates all food items for residents and staff. Prepares various foods depending on the menu created by the dieticians for each meal of the day, following federal, state, and local regulations. Operates various kitchen equipment in preparation for the meal, e.g., mixer, meat slicer, oven, steamer, etc. Serves meals in a safe manner and follows all requirements. Directs activities of one or more workers who assist in preparing and serving meals. Accurately follows diet cards when serving residents. Takes and documents food temperatures. Cleans kitchen and all kitchen equipment. Assists in putting away of dietary stock and rotation of dietary supplies. Keeps all coolers clean and organized, including checking expiration dates. Follows portion control guidelines. Maintain the confidentiality of all resident, staff, and organization information.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Previous cook experience required.
