About The Position

Job Title: Dietary Attendant - Full Time Days Department: Food and Nutrition Services Location: Massena Hospital Hours Per Week: 40 Schedule: Five 8 hour Shifts, 6am-2pm or 10:30am -6:30pm includes alternating weekends Sign-On Bonus: N/A Responsibilities May be assigned to various stations on tray line. Assembles patient trays according to marked menu and diet. Transports food carts to and from patient floors. Delivers and picks-up patient trays, menus and nourishments. Must observe/adhere to infection control practices during tray delivery Works with diet order sheets and cardex - clarifying diet orders with HUCs/Nursing Staff prior to each meal. Responsible for ensuring "right" tray is sent to the "right" patient - checks patient identification prior to leaving tray. Must adhere to time frames set by department and New York State Department of Heath to assure meals are served to patients in a timely manner regardless of patient census. Cafeteria: sets up, serves and replenishes food and supplies in cafeteria. Keeps all areas orderly and clean. Scrapes and washes dishes. Removes trays and/or food cards from cafeteria. Financial Accountability: when working with cafeteria cash register is precise and efficient (must be within specific margin of error with cash from drawer.) Sanitation: breaks down trays, scrapes, sorts, stacks and operates automatic dish machine. Fills and cares for dish machine. Washes and cleans assigned areas. Removes garbage from kitchen. Responsible for washing carts used to transport patient trays. Removes racks from cart for cleaning and takes cart to be steamed for sanitary purposes. Assembles cold plates according to recipe and in the amount per production sheet. Adheres to recipes for various therapeutic diets and for assembling food for patient meal trays. Prepares and packages individual nourishments according to order. Delivers and collects nourishments from patient floors. Ensures making/delivering of nourishments are on a time schedule to promote good nutritional status and assuring blood glucose values remain stable. Assembles equipment, sets tables and assists in preparation of special functions. Serves or assists in serving as required. Gives attention to detail and individual creativity. Preferred Qualifications: High School graduate or GED preferred. Previous experience in an institutional food setting preferred. Basic knowledge cleaning procedures required. PAY RANGE: $17.74 - $24.51 The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components.
