About The Position

The Dietary Aide position is responsible for assisting in all food functions within a healthcare facility, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local standards. The role involves supporting the Dietician and Cook, preparing meals according to dietary needs, and maintaining cleanliness and safety in food handling and preparation.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Some experience helpful, on the job training will be provided
• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
• Must be able to follow oral and written instructions

Responsibilities

• Assisting the Dietician / Dietary Management and Cook as requested
• Helping with meal preparation in accordance to the dietary needs of the residents
• Assisting in serving meals that are palatable and appetizing in appearance
• Timely setting up of meal service and delivery of meal trays and food carts
• Following the established portion controls recommended
• Adhering to sanitation and food safety guidelines during meal preparation and clean up
• Keeping work tables clean, meat blocks, refrigerators/freezers, etc.
• Sweeping and mopping floors
• Dishwashing and cleaning of utensils
• Returning clean dishes and utensils to the proper storage areas
• Carrying out of garbage
• Disposing of food and waste per facility regulations
• Obtaining food supplies for the next meal
• Following safety regulations and precautions at all times
• Reporting any occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, or other hazardous materials to a supervisor immediately
• Adhering to all facility policies and procedures of the facility
• Maintaining confidentiality of all pertinent resident care information
