POSITION SUMMARY The Dietary Aide works to provide wholesome, appetizing food presented in a pleasing manner in catering, cafeteria and/or patient care. In patient care, this position confirms appropriateness of food as ordered and ensures food presented to patients is in accordance with any dietary restrictions and/or modified textures. Regularly participates in the kitchen clean-up and dishwashing responsibilities. Assists in the hospital cafeteria, performing various duties such as food preparation and serving, cashiering and cleanup duties. Adheres to proper sanitation and safety practices at all times. In addition, this position supports and assists with Gift Shop operations and sales. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS Education/Licensure/Certification: California Food Handlers card or ServSafe certification required within 90 days of hire. Knowledge: Must be able to read and write in the English language. Previous Food Service and cashier experience preferred. Knowledge of special diets preferred. Skills: Ability to consistently follow instructions for meal orders, nutritional needs and recipes to ensure patients receive appropriate food Strong attention to detail Exceptional customer service skills required Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required. Must be able to multi-task in an active and dynamic environment with frequent interruptions Must have good organizational skills and ability to effectively prioritize workload Skilled with basic mathematical computations and ability to accurately handle money Ability to operate basic machinery and must be able to lift 50 pounds, bend and stretch routinely without limitations.
