About The Position

Horizon Health is a Critical Access, Rural Health Facility comprised of 25-inpatient beds located in Paris, IL & a multitude of outpatient clinic settings including Family Practice and Specialty Clinics in Paris and surrounding cities. We have been serving residents of Edgar County since 1968 though community education, emergency services, and outpatient care. As we continue to expand our services & locations, our community has grown far beyond Paris. The Dietary Aide/Kitchen Staff member prepares meats, vegetables, soups, salads, desserts, etc., for the patients and patrons of Hospital & Medical Foundation of Paris, Inc. Other responsibilities also included continuous quality improvement, and a liaison between the patient and the Nutritional Services Department.

Requirements

  • High School education or equivalent
  • Food Service Sanitation Certification from IDPH is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Maintains hot and cold food temperatures according to established guidelines.
  • Plans cooking schedule in conjunction with Supervisor to ensure that food is ready at specified times.
  • Confers with Supervisor /Manager regarding modified diet preparation and use of leftovers.
  • Prepares, dips, and packages foods according to established procedures for Meals-On-Wheels.
  • Ensures that all containers/ serving trays are stocked with dishes, trays, tableware, cups, etc., and are readily available.
  • Keeps patient Kardex current by recording dietary changes as orders are received.
  • Checks menus before each meal, making additions and deletions as needed. (Consider incorrect meals prepared.)
  • Answers department telephone indicating area, personal name, and job title. Using courteous, respectful tone, taking messages and relaying information as needed in prompt manner.
  • Serves employees and guests in the cafeteria line –greeting patrons cheerfully. Treats customer with respect, courtesy, and patience. (Consider complaints received).
  • Is willing to be flexible to meet patient care needs. Cooperates to provide coverage when needed. Cross trains to other jobs tasks. Accepts assignments willingly.
