About The Position

The Dietary Aide's responsibilities are based on the needs of the shift. This role reports to the Cook and Dietary Supervisor. Quickly learn food service routines. Set up meal trays and assist with serving meals. Strip down and wash returned trays. Check and record the chlorine concentration and water temperature of the dishwashing machine at the start of the shift. Monitor the water temperatures during dishwashing cycles. Operate the dishwasher efficiently. Prepare nourishments and snacks as needed. Sweep, mop, and maintain kitchen floors. Remove trash and dispose of garbage properly. Organize and store groceries in a clean and safe manner. Ensure the kitchen is left clean and sanitary. Clean work surfaces, refrigerators, and other kitchen areas. Assist the Cook or Dietary Supervisor as needed. Participate in the orientation and ongoing training of dietary staff. Work effectively with personnel in all departments. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to read technical procedures and follow recipes.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and staff.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Must obtain and maintain a valid food handler’s certificate.
  • Frequent standing, walking, and reaching with hands and arms.
  • Occasional sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
  • Frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequent talking, hearing, tasting, and smelling.
  • Ability to perceive close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth vision, with the ability to adjust focus.
