Requirements

  • 1 year in healthcare or restaurant food service preferred
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates with nursing staff to address patient dietary needs and optimize food service operations on the unit.
  • Manages patient meal services, including assisting with menu selection, tray setup, delivery, and retrieval, while accommodating special requests and providing snacks or meals between regular service times.
  • Communicates patient food-related concerns and dietary requirements to the Nutrition and Food Services department for appropriate action.
  • Supports the dietitian by monitoring patients on specialized diets, such as NPO (nothing by mouth), liquid diets, or those requiring intake tracking.
  • Ensures adherence to dietary restrictions for special or modified diets, while accommodating patient preferences within prescribed guidelines.
