About The Position

The position is located in the Food and Nutrition department at Advocate South Suburban Hospital. It is a full-time role requiring 40 hours per week, with candidates expected to work every other weekend and holiday after training. The working hours vary from 11:00 am to 8:30 pm. The pay range for this position is between $18.50 and $27.75 per hour.

Requirements

• High School diploma or 1 year related experience.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English.
• Ability to work well with others.
• Customer-oriented.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine tasks associated with Dietary meal service for patients, cafeteria, and catering/special functions according to departmental policies and procedures.
• Prepare and assemble food in accordance with established recipes and guidelines.
• Monitor and document food temperatures as assigned.
• Stock patient floor kitchenettes with bulk nourishment and supplies according to par levels.
• Serve food to patients, employees, and guests using proper portion control and handling techniques.
• Prepare assigned area of responsibility by obtaining and organizing necessary food and supplies.
• Distribute food, bulk nourishment/snacks, and patient meal trays according to dietary procedures.
• Keep trayline refrigerators stocked and replenish as needed.
• Interact with patients to assist with menu selection according to dietary restrictions.
• Operate a variety of food service equipment safely and report any malfunctions.
• Complete routine cleaning tasks as assigned using appropriate chemicals.
• Operate dish machine and perform various ware washing tasks.
• Enhance skills and broaden knowledge base through regular participation in area meetings and training sessions.
