About The Position

The Dietary Aide position is a full-time temporary role responsible for preparing and serving high-quality food to hospital patients, employees, and visitors. The role emphasizes adherence to hospital policies, infection control, safety, and sanitation, ensuring that all food service operations are conducted efficiently and in compliance with established protocols.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Suffolk County Department of Health food manager's safety certificate or equivalent preferred.
• Valid ServSafe food handler certification preferred.
• Two years of experience in healthcare food service preferred.

• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and deliver patient meal trays.
• Transport food carts and equipment safely throughout the hospital.
• Operate and clean equipment according to departmental procedures.
• Safely transport garbage and recyclable materials to assigned areas.
• Accurately portion and serve food for patients with minimal waste.
• Inventory and deliver par stock supplies to identified units and clean as per departmental procedures.
• Complete food temperature control logs as per established protocol.
• Maintain adequate records as directed.
• Maintain order and cleanliness in the work area.
• Cooperate with all personnel in the proper conduct of the department.
• Rotate within the department and by shift as required.
• Maintain ethical relationships and adhere to hospital rules and regulations.
• Participate in in-service programs and perform other related duties as assigned by management.
