About The Position

The Dietetic Technician provides support for patients’ dietetic and nutritional needs under the supervision of a Registered Dietitian. This role assists in delivering high-quality, patient-centered nutritional care while collaborating with interdisciplinary healthcare teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Dietetics or related field OR
  • Dietetic Technician Registered (DTR) credential
  • DTR credential must be validated through the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).
  • Bachelor’s Degree Candidates: Must maintain 50 continuing education units (CEUs) within a five-year period.
  • Associate Degree/DTR Candidates: Must maintain active DTR credential.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of healthcare experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Performs nutrition screenings in accordance with Clinical Nutrition Services policies and procedures.
  • Obtains, evaluates, and documents diet history information to support the planning of individualized nutritional care.
  • Provides instruction to patients and/or significant others regarding modified and therapeutic diets.
  • Communicates effectively with healthcare team members to coordinate nutritional care plans.
  • Ensures product safety through proper training, food handling practices, and quality control measures.
  • Maintains regular and punctual attendance in compliance with organizational policies, ADA, FMLA, and applicable federal, state, and local standards.
  • Adheres to all organizational policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Participates in clinical performance improvement initiatives and focus studies as assigned.
  • Provides nutrition education and in-service training to patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  • Reviews and updates educational materials in collaboration with dietitians.
  • Participates in interdisciplinary healthcare team rounds.
  • Represents the organization at health fairs and community outreach events.
  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care, applying principles of growth and development across the lifespan to meet patient-specific nutritional needs.
