About The Position

Ziegler CAT is seeking a full-time Diesel Truck Technician to perform comprehensive tractor and trailer repairs, including work on truck engines, power trains, and chassis, within a shop environment at their Altoona branch. Requirements

  • 2-year technical college degree in diesel technology or related field; or High school diploma/GED and 2 years of comparable shop mechanic experience
  • Able to drive equipment
  • Ability to write and communicate effectively and interact with supervisors, customers and team members
  • Basic computer skills to document work orders and utilize online diagnostic systems
  • Own mechanic tool set
  • Ability to maintain a safe and clean work environment
  • Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment drug test (as the role is safety sensitive)
  • Minimum physical requirements: Push/pull up to 50 lbs
  • Minimum physical requirements: Lift/carry up to 60 lbs
  • Minimum physical requirements: Lift bulky objects
  • Minimum physical requirements: Standing, walking, using hands, talking, hearing, neck rotation, trunk rotation, stair climbing, ladder climbing, repetitive bending, kneeling, sustained squat, forward reaching, overhead reaching, supine overhead reaching, crawling, bin lift, high steps, fingering/grasping – able to use bolt box.

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years of relevant truck and trailer repair experience preferred (including engine, brakes, suspension, and alignment)
  • Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and Federal inspection knowledge preferred

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair complete tractor and trailer including truck engine, power train, and chassis
  • Document work orders in a complete and timely manner to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction
  • Work safely at all times, following company policies, procedures and standards
  • Work collaboratively and assist other technicians as needed regarding troubleshooting repairs
  • Participate in ongoing training to enhance mechanical skills and grow product knowledge
