Location: 1133 Kingwood Avenue - Norfolk, Virginia 23502 Position Summary: Responsible to inspect, diagnose and perform preventive and corrective maintenance and repair of diesel semi trucks and trailers.
Requirements
- High school or equivalent (GED) (Required)
- Valid Driver’s License (required)
- Must be able to demonstrate and obtain SpartanNash certification for the safe driving of material handling equipment, tractors, and trailers (required)
- Heavy Duty Air Brake Certified (required)
- DOT Inspector Certified (required)
Nice To Haves
- CDL-A (Strongly preferred)
- Basic Mechanic tools and toolbox (strongly preferred)
- Journeyman Diesel Mechanic card (strongly preferred) with 608 Certificate (strongly preferred)
- Previous refrigerated trailer (reefer) experience (strongly preferred)
Responsibilities
- Assesses the preventive maintenance schedule to ensure equipment maintenance is completed on schedule to avoid major repairs and/or equipment down time
- Meets with supervisor/lead to discuss work orders and priorities, proactively identifies any issues or conditions which might affect the operation of the equipment
- Utilizes maintenance systems to ensure timely and accurate documentation of maintenance and repair work performed
- Identifies and orders replacement parts, ensuring that the parts ordered are correct and complete at the time of order.
- May assist more junior mechanics with parts ordering
- Effectively collaborates with other departments as appropriate
