About The Position

GENERAL STATEMENT OF THE FUNCTION This position includes a variety of tasks involving the day-to-day operations of the Diesel Equipment Technology Program. This position supports the development and implementation of eligibility, intake, assessment, case management, evaluation methods, tools, and other documents needed to support the Hinds Community College/Stribling/Empire Diesel Technology Program. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE An Associate of Applied Science Degree with administrative, advising, or academic planning higher education experience; or five years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Requirements

  • Excellent computer skills, especially in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, Outlook, Internet software, and other software as required.
  • Proficient in Colleague, Informer, Etrieve, or similar database management software
  • Ability to keep sensitive information confidential at all times.
  • Excellent communication skills, both spoken and written.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills.
  • Strong and pleasant telephone and interpersonal skills, with the ability to professionally and courteously manage internal and external customers and co-workers on the phone and in person.
  • The ability to take initiative, use good judgement, demonstrate a strong sense of urgency, and carry multiple projects through to completion.
  • Ability to meet multiple deadlines for submission of reports without reminders from supervisor.
  • Ability to work successfully without supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement eligibility, intake, assessment, case management, evaluation methods, tools, and other documents needed to support the Hinds Community College/Stribling/Empire Diesel Technology Program.
  • Support customized service delivery plans for program participants, as well as collect and provide information for grants.
  • Work directly with potential students to ensure they have correctly completed the admissions requirements of Hinds Community College to include, but are not limited to: provide the prospective students assistance in completing admissions application, secure proper residency documentation, official high school/college transcripts, secure proper placement test scores, ensure applicants have completed all requirements included in the Diesel Equipment Technology special admission process.
  • Make sure that the appropriate intake forms are completed for grant participants.
  • Ensure students are properly advised and correctly registered for each term.
  • Build classes as prescribed in the curriculum in the Colleague system and enroll students according to the 8 week intake.
  • Serve on assigned college committees and participate in various school-sponsored activities.
  • Provide written correspondence for students needing or requesting information.
  • Advise students pursuing their Associate of Applied Science Degree in Diesel Equipment Technology online about College policies and procedures.
  • Perform all other duties as may be assigned by the appropriate authority.
