About the position

The Diesel Technician / Mechanic position at NFI involves troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing electrical and mechanical issues related to tractors and trailers. The role requires the use of standard testing procedures and computer diagnostic equipment, ensuring the fleet is maintained to high standards. Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electrical and mechanical tractor and trailer-related issues using standard testing procedures and computer diagnostic equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on the fleet of tractors and trailers.
  • Conduct DOT inspections per FMSCA guidelines.
  • Physically perform all job duties, including lifting and/or pulling 75 lbs or more without restriction, standing or lying for extended periods, and having flexible movement to reach equipment.

Requirements

  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Preferred ability to obtain a Class B license.
  • Technical or advanced degree or 2 or more years of equivalent maintenance experience.
  • Familiarity with troubleshooting equipment repairs and maintenance with diagnostic tools and equipment such as JPRO, OEM Diagnostic Software, Multimeters, and Windows.
  • Successfully demonstrated problem-solving skills.
  • Examples of teamwork and customer service skills, including good oral and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • ASE Certification reimbursement and assistance with study materials.
  • Experience with computer diagnostic equipment such as JPRO and OEM Diagnostic Software.
