Annual performance-based raises. A Diesel Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel-powered vehicles and machinery. Here are the key responsibilities and requirements for this role: This role is crucial for keeping company vehicles and machinery running smoothly and efficiently.

Requirements

  • Experience: Four plus years of proven experience as a diesel mechanic or diesel service technician. Repair and service of heavy trucks, light trucks, automotive, small engine, and forklift.
  • Skills: Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills, familiarity with computerized diagnostic tools, and mechanical knowledge.
  • Mechanic Aptitude: Strong mechanical aptitude in mechanical and electric diagnostics; diesel, gas, LP, and electric engines; carburetors, starters, fuel systems; hydraulic/air brake systems.
  • Education: A high school diploma or equivalent; postsecondary training in diesel technology is preferred.
  • Physical Ability: Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting heavy items and working in various conditions.
  • Full time 40+ hours per week - Start time 6:30am

Responsibilities

  • Diagnostic Testing: Run diagnostic tests on diesel engines and interpret the results to offer suitable solutions.
  • Preventative Maintenance and Repair: Repair or replace vehicle transmissions, brakes, engines, and other associated parts. Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, wheel balancing, alignment, and brake checks.
  • Communication: Communicate with branch leadership on vehicle diagnostics and expected completion time for vehicles and equipment.
  • Field Visits: Conduct field visits in situations of an emergency or sudden breakdown.
  • Test Driving: Test drive repaired vehicles to gauge their performance.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain records of parts inventory and serviced vehicles.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
