Requirements
- Two years' verifiable experience in tractor and trailer inspection and repair OR a technical school degree, or certification in Heavy Duty Truck/Trailer Maintenance with one verifiable experience
- A valid state-issued driver's license
- Must pass DOT physical and drug screen
- Command of English language to communicate effectively with internal and external customers
- Knowledge of methods, materials, tools and techniques used in the repair and maintain a variety of heavy trucks and semi-trailers and other mechanical equipment is required
- Basic hand tools are required
- Must have working knowledge of the operating principles of diesel engines and repair of heavy trucks
- Ability to maintain detailed time and parts used on work orders
- Must possess excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to communicate to both internal and external customers
- Computer skills needed for diagnostics.
Nice To Haves
- A CDL, ASE and State and/or Federal inspection certification is preferred but not required
Responsibilities
- Diagnoses, troubleshoots, and repairs fleet equipment safely and correctly
- Conducts failure analysis, repairs, and rebuilds fleet equipment components correctly
- Informs management about housekeeping opportunities, harmful working conditions, and unsafe work practices, and suggests corrective actions
- Identifies and informs management of broken tools and missing supplies required for performing repairs on fleet equipment, and takes steps to solve issue if possible
- Correctly completes work orders and documents
- Maintains a clean and safe work environment to ensure safety and compliance
- Complies with company policies, procedures, and standards of ethics and integrity.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Operate and inspect mechanical equipment to diagnose defects
- Analyze malfunctions and perform general overhaul, tune up or preventive maintenance of equipment
- Dismantle and reassemble equipment
- Plan work procedure using charges, technical manuals and experience
- Enter labor lines and parts into repair order computer system.
