Requirements

  • Two years' verifiable experience in tractor and trailer inspection and repair OR a technical school degree, or certification in Heavy Duty Truck/Trailer Maintenance with one verifiable experience;
  • A valid state-issued driver's license;
  • Must pass DOT physical and drug screen;
  • Command of English language to communicate effectively with internal and external customers;
  • Knowledge of methods, materials, tools and techniques used in the repair and maintain a variety of heavy trucks and semi-trailers and other mechanical equipment is required;
  • Basic hand tools are required;
  • Must have working knowledge of the operating principles of diesel engines and repair of heavy trucks;
  • Ability to maintain detailed time and parts used on work orders
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to communicate to both internal and external customers
  • Computer skills needed for diagnostics.

Nice To Haves

  • A CDL, ASE and State and/or Federal inspection certification is preferred but not required;

Responsibilities

  • Diagnoses, troubleshoots, and repairs fleet equipment safely and correctly;
  • Conducts failure analysis, repairs, and rebuilds fleet equipment components correctly;
  • Informs management about housekeeping opportunities, harmful working conditions, and unsafe work practices, and suggests corrective actions;
  • Identifies and informs management of broken tools and missing supplies required for performing repairs on fleet equipment, and takes steps to solve issue if possible;
  • Correctly completes work orders and documents;
  • Maintains a clean and safe work environment to ensure safety and compliance;
  • Complies with company policies, procedures, and standards of ethics and integrity.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Operate and inspect mechanical equipment to diagnose defects;
  • Analyze malfunctions and perform general overhaul, tune up or preventive maintenance of equipment;
  • Dismantle and reassemble equipment;
  • Plan work procedure using charges, technical manuals and experience;
  • Enter labor lines and parts into repair order computer system.
  • Travel to other company shop locations when staff is needed
  • React to change productivity and handle other essential tasks as assigned
