About The Position

Our organization is searching for a Diesel Technician who excels in a self-directed environment. This position is responsible for performing preventative maintenance and repairs on Tyson’s refrigeration trailers and/or tractors from a mobile unit located at a designated distribution center. This candidate will communicate with vendors, assign vendor workloads, manage and order inventory levels, lead repairs, and write work orders. This position will be working in the elements, on the facility-assigned parking area for repairs, and will always need to be aware of the surroundings.

Requirements

  • Must have two years of verifiable experience to perform DOT inspections and overall experience of at least 5 years of mechanical experience. 5 plus years’ experience or meet the criteria below.
  • Mastery level understanding of comprehension of tractor and trailer equipment.
  • Basic computer skills, Knowledge of SAP preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Must have a valid license to drive.
  • Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 75lbs occasionally and lift up to 50lbs frequently.
  • Must have own hand tools and toolbox.
  • Must be 608 / 609 certified.
  • Must be able to read schematics and use a voltmeter.
  • Must be a periodic inspector certified.
  • Basic math skills are necessary to perform tasks at a satisfactory level.
  • Basic computer skills will be necessary to document information, process daily work orders, and complete required documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance/repairs on refrigeration units & trailers
  • Perform DOT inspections on equipment
  • Diagnose failures of vehicles and disassemble, repair, and reassemble parts as necessary
  • Maintain vehicle records as required, both paper and computerized
  • Maintain compliance with OSHA, D.O.T and EPA regulations.
  • Will be working in the elements
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on trucks and trailers, including brake systems, suspension systems, and electrical systems.
  • Inspect and test vehicles to ensure they are in proper working order and meet safety standards.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical issues on trucks and trailers.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Follow all safety protocols and guidelines.
  • Work cross-functionally across multiple areas of the garage.
  • Diagnose and repair truck engines and systems using diagnostic programs.
  • Safely apply knowledge and troubleshooting skills to all assigned equipment.
  • Effectively communicate with all transportation personnel, including managers, drivers, and clerks.
  • Read and interpret instructions, manuals, and schematics.
  • Perform service calls on equipment at remote locations as needed.
