Diesel Technician/Mechanic
About The Position
Amerit Fleet Solutions, one of the leading fleet maintenance companies in the US, is looking to hire a skilled Diesel and Trailer Mechanic! The Diesel and Trailer Mechanic is responsible for the timely repair and maintenance of medium to heavy-duty fleet vehicles to ensure a safe and efficient operation. The Diesel Technician/Mechanic position requires a high level of proficiency and working knowledge related to the diagnosis and repair of heavy-duty diesel engines. Comprehension of Fleet Maintenance operations, understanding of electrical, preventative maintenance, and DOT inspection experience and knowledge. Our fleet will require repairs on Yard Dogs, Dry vans / Trailers, and Lift Gates. Outdoors onsite in Wilton New York.
Requirements
- At least 2 years’ experience performing vehicle maintenance or must possess auto or repair experience on Yard Dogs, Dry vans / Trailers, and Lift Gates.
- Must provide own hand tools & toolbox.
- Knowledge of hand-held scan tools and the process of diagnosing vehicles.
- Proficient computer skills: knowledge of Excel, Word, Fleet Management Systems, and Email
- Strong written and verbal communication skills (documentation, communication with peers, supervisors, etc.)
Responsibilities
- Prepare vehicle records and report both manually and on a computer
- Perform repairs and preventative maintenance to medium to heavy-duty vehicles
- Perform safety inspections of equipment and prepare safety documentation
- Comply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company policies/procedures
- Inspect and perform work on the underparts of vehicles
- Move parts to and from the job site and remove or install these parts on vehicles
- Interact with clients through both email or phone as necessary
- Perform other duties as required
