About The Position

Opdenaker Trash & Recycling is a family-owned and -operated company that has been providing trash and recycling removal services in Southeastern Pennsylvania and Northern Delaware for over 55 years. Our company is seeking full-time, reliable, and hard-working professional Diesel Technician Mechanic. Your principle responsibility is to perform repair and maintenance work on diesel and non-diesel vehicles. Specific responsibility includes but is not limited to the preventative maintenance & repair of vehicles including: Chassis components Vehicle refuse bodies and control systems Hydraulic electrical Air brake systems General engine work HVAC components Suspension, drive train, and steering systems. Basic tire work, such as replacement, tire rotation, and tread depth checks. Diesel Mechanic's day-to-day responsibilities are supported and facilitated by: Utilization of vehicle computer electronics systems (ECM) to interpret failure modes to initiate or assign repairs. Ability to estimate time and material costs on vehicle repairs and requisitions new parts. Performs all work within Standard Repair Times (SRTs). Conducting regular safety checks on vehicles. Completing required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software program associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times. Review, completion, or assignment of repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports. Maintenance of a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate / OSHA Standards and performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.

Requirements

  • One (1) year of experience in a technician position demonstrating knowledge of both gasoline and diesel-powered equipment diagnosis and repair.
  • Prior experience with maintenance work to be performed on light/medium/heavy duty trucks
  • Valid CDL Class A, B or C
  • General understanding of work order labor time standards
  • Working knowledge & demonstrated ability to work with computer systems and electronic mobile devices (phones/tablets)
  • Ability to lift and/or push/pull up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to climb in and out of trash truck's cabs and body
  • Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (required)

Nice To Haves

  • Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certifications (T1-T8) are a plus but not required.
