About The Position
A Penske Refrigeration Technician will diagnose, overhaul, adjust, and repair all series of motor truck and trailer equipment with the primary focus on all refrigeration unit maintenance equipment designed for commercial trucks and trailers. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of refrigeration systems, particularly those manufactured by Carrier and Thermo King, and involves performing maintenance services at various levels. The technician will be responsible for testing lines, components, and connections using electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic test equipment, as well as reading complex schematics associated with refrigeration and air conditioning equipment. In addition to technical skills, the technician must identify warrantable repairs and document them on repair orders, maintain a clean and safe work area, and conduct road tests on vehicles when necessary to diagnose malfunctions or ensure proper functionality. The role demands a high level of independence, as the technician will perform duties with little or no supervision while adhering to safety and maintenance policies established by Penske. The technician will also provide additional support regarding preventative maintenance and tractor trailer maintenance as required by location management. Physical demands include the ability to frequently move, stand, walk, and sit, as well as the capability to lift and/or move up to 50lbs regularly and up to 100lbs occasionally. The technician must also be able to work in a non-climate controlled environment and comply with specific instructions and guidelines set by Penske management. Regular attendance is essential, and the technician must be willing to travel as necessary and complete a background investigation and drug screening as part of the hiring process.
