About The Position

As a Diesel Technician/Mechanic II at Penske, you will perform preventative maintenance and repairs on a diverse fleet of vehicles, ensuring they remain safe and operational for customers. This role involves working independently on major and minor repairs, conducting road tests, and mentoring new technicians while continuing to develop your skills through ongoing training. You will be part of a team that prioritizes safety and reliability, utilizing advanced technology and tools to complete your tasks efficiently.

Requirements

  • 3 years of practical experience with vehicle maintenance required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred; vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair preferred.
  • Specialized training and experience in diagnosing major components (engines, transmissions, differentials) preferred.
  • Experience using diagnostic equipment, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Willingness to work in non-climate-controlled conditions.
  • Basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance services on truck and trailer equipment with minimal supervision.
  • Repair and troubleshoot components such as engines, transmissions, and differentials.

  • Utilize Penske's tools and technologies for logging and completing repairs.
  • Participate in Penske's technician training to learn new skills.
  • Assist with other projects and tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
