About The Position

We are looking for a talented Diesel Technician III to join our team specializing in engine repairs for our Distribution Business in Nashville, TN. In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways: This is a qualified Journeyman Technician who must furnish a complete set of hand tools and must have a detailed knowledge of all Cummins engine and allied products. He must be highly skilled in diagnosing and correcting engine problems, checking, testing, repairing and rebuilding engines in the shop and in the field. The Technician must be able to operate while testing equipment and tools, as well as install Cummins engine and allied products, both mobile and stationary. As a representative of Cummins, a Fleet Service Technician must be able to interact with customers in an effective, positive and professional manner. The Technician's communication, job planning and documentation skills must be excellent. It is necessary that work be done in the field with little or no supervision. The position requires a commitment to personal and worksite safety. The Fleet Service Technician is required to achieve and maintain performance standards as established by Cummins Standard Repair Time Manual. When the work is not governed by standard repair times the Technician must be able to generate, on average, one hundred percent (100%) billable hours. Assignments to Fleet Service Technicians will be· made on the basis of qualifications and seniority. If a Company vehicle is required, appropriate arrangements will be made.

Responsibilities

  • Applies documented procedures and policies to perform diagnostics and complex repairs
  • Performs preventative maintenance based on assessment of engine
  • Completes required documentation, such as work completed documents, time sheets, warranty claims and quality forms, via handwritten or business system input screens
  • Completes training in line with skill and business requirements
  • Coaches and develops technicians and/or apprentices and transfers knowledge and experience to others; may provide work direction; may review repair plans, parts lists, etc
  • Maintains work area and tools for cleanliness and proper operation
  • Adheres to and ensures adherence of more junior technicians to all relevant Health, Safety & Environmental policies, procedures and legislation and reports any issues / incidents to their supervisor
