About The Position

Diesel Technician II performs inspections, maintenance, repairs, and overhauls engines. Troubleshoots and diagnoses problems. Being a Diesel Technician II utilizes computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes. Replaces and/or refurbishes parts. Additionally, Diesel Technician II maintains maintenance logs according to requirements. All duties to be performed according to the established standard and in compliance with all company policies and procedures while maintaining regular, prompt attendance and availability to work outside standard business hours as needed: Ensures services provided follow all quality standards and safety procedures. Perform DOT annual inspections on vehicles. Work under moderate supervision within established procedures specific to the job function Ability to interpret technical manuals, schematics, and work orders. Perform moderate-level welding and fabrication, diagnose electrical systems, diesel engines & transmissions, as well as troubleshoot and maintain air brake and hydraulic systems Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Commercial Driver License (CDL) – Class A preferred
  • Automotive & Diesel Technology certificate from a college or technical school or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of both.
  • DOT Certified
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Working knowledge of computers is preferred.
