About The Position

This position at Terre Haute Chevrolet involves mechanical repairs and communication with customers and staff. The role requires performing work outlined on service repair orders with speed and thoroughness, ensuring vehicles are serviced correctly the first time. The technician will inspect vehicles for additional service needs, document repairs accurately, and communicate with management and customers regarding repairs and future requirements. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Automotive technical school experience is preferred.
  • ASE certification is preferred.
  • 2+ years of diesel technician experience is preferred.
  • General Motor experience is preferred.
  • Ability to repair vehicles, machines, or systems using the needed tools.
  • Steady hand and arm movement for repairs.
  • Manual dexterity for grasping and manipulating objects.
  • Ability to detect differences in sounds.
  • Trunk strength to support body weight repeatedly.
  • Must be able to lift 90 lbs.
  • Strong time management and project management skills.
  • Must be able to stand or walk on concrete for several hours.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, review, and respond to service repair orders per company standards.
  • Discuss any special conditions or problems with the vehicle.
  • Perform work outlined on the repair order with speed, thoroughness, and safety.
  • Inspect the vehicle for additional service repair work that may be needed.
  • Document repairs made to correct issues on the repair order.
  • Perform additional repairs as authorized.
  • Communicate with management and staff on any additional time or assistance needed.
  • Test and adjust repaired systems to meet manufacturers’ performance specifications.
  • Follow checklists to ensure all important parts are examined.
  • Confer with customers to obtain descriptions of vehicle problems.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety of the work area.
  • Repair or replace parts associated with the repair order.
  • Install and/or repair accessories such as radios and mirrors.
  • Return and tag all warranty-failed parts to the Parts department.
  • Ensure prompt and regular attendance.
  • Perform other appropriate duties as assigned by Management.
  • Travel as business needs may require.
  • Complete entry level manufacture General Motors (GM) training.
