THE JOB: The Preventative Maintenance Diesel Technician or Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing diesel engines and vehicles such as dump trucks. In this position you will: Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on company fleet, including dump trucks, pick-up trucks, and heavy equipment. Work closely with other technicians and to meet company fleet goals. Perform preventative maintenance and repairs (such as: oil changes, tire rotations, electrical repairs, cooling system maintenance, etc.). Operate company equipment safely and properly. Repair minor electronic issues within vehicle Perform troubleshooting and diagnostics testing Perform general inspections of company fleet Maintain shop and property area clean and tidy Input data into maintenance-tracking systems

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a vocational or technical program in diesel mechanics is preferred.
  • Proven experience as a diesel mechanic or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engine systems, components, and operations.
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment.
  • Familiarity with electrical and electronic systems in diesel-powered vehicles.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • A strong knowledge of dump truck mechanics.
  • Ability to lift and/or move at least 75 lbs.
  • Climb in and out of heavy equipment
  • Stooping, bending, squatting, lifting, stretching, pulling
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate tools and CDL equipment
  • Vision abilities (with correction) include close, distance, peripheral, depth, and the ability to focus sight
  • A high level of awareness of surroundings and environment

Nice To Haves

  • Valid class A or B CDL is a plus.
  • Spanish speaker is a plus.
