About The Position

On Time Trucking, Inc. is seeking a skilled and dedicated Full-Time Diesel Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing our fleet of diesel trucks, trailers and electric forklifts to ensure they operate safely and efficiently. This role requires expertise in diesel engine systems, mechanical repairs, and working with various makes and models of tractors and trailers. Experience working with electric forklifts is strongly preferred.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience as a diesel mechanic or in a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engine systems, electrical systems, hydraulics, and air brake systems
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and mechanical equipment
  • Basic computer skills for documentation and inventory tracking.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in repairs.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of assigned tasks.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.
  • Good communication skills and ability to follow instructions.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and unexpected repairs.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in various weather conditions
  • Adherence to all OTT Safety, Quality, ISO and HR policies and standards

Nice To Haves

  • Any valid CDL license with a clean driving record a plus but not required
  • High school diploma or equivalent a plus but not required
  • ASE Certification (preferred)
  • Experience in logistics, shipping, receiving, transportation, or warehouse operations (a plus).
  • Experience repairing electric forklifts strongly preferred.
  • Understanding of LEAN, 5S, and 6S principles (preferred but not required).

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel engines, transmissions, electrical systems, and mechanical components
  • Perform regular preventative maintenance such as oil changes, brake inspections, and tire checks.
  • Use diagnostic tools to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical and electrical issues.
  • Conduct DOT-compliant inspections to ensure all trucks meet safety and regulatory standards.
  • Repair or replace defective parts, including engines, fuel systems, exhaust systems, and air conditioning units.
  • Keep accurate records of repairs, inspections, and maintenance performed.
  • Communicate effectively with team members to coordinate repair schedules.
  • Operate trucks and heavy equipment as needed for testing and diagnostics
  • Ensure compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations
  • Respond to road calls and escalations when required.
  • Other duties as assigned.
