About The Position

DM Disposal, a Waste Connections company, is seeking a high-performing, highly skilled Diesel Mechanic to support our fleet of roll-off trucks, dump trucks, and other operational vehicles in Fife, Washington. We’re looking for technicians who deliver top-tier workmanship, excel in fast-paced environments, and take pride in maintaining safe, reliable equipment. Schedule Monday–Friday 1:00 PM – 9:30 PM Overtime: 3–10 hours per week on average

Requirements

  • Minimum 3–5 years of professional diesel mechanic experience working on heavy-duty trucks, tractors, or trailers
  • Advanced diagnostic ability with demonstrated experience in troubleshooting electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and after-treatment systems (DEF, DPF, SCR)
  • Must provide a comprehensive personal tool set, including specialty tools required for heavy-duty repairs
  • Proficiency with fleet maintenance software and the ability to accurately enter, track, and close work orders
  • Strong understanding of DOT, OSHA, and manufacturer maintenance standards
  • Valid driver’s license required; Class A or B CDL strongly preferred (or willingness to obtain within 90 days)
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply technical manuals, wiring diagrams, schematics, and OEM service bulletins
  • Demonstrated experience with brake adjustments, suspension systems, steering, hydraulics, and air systems
  • Ability to safely lift 50+ lbs, work in tight spaces, and perform physically demanding tasks on refuse equipment
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision and deliver high-quality, timely repairs
  • Safety-sensitive: YES

Nice To Haves

  • Welding, fabrication, or cutting torch experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced maintenance and repairs on tractors, trailers, and heavy-duty equipment
  • Diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, brake, and air systems with accuracy and efficiency
  • Independently complete and resolve issues identified through Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIRs)
  • Conduct thorough safety inspections and maintain OSHA compliance at all times
  • Utilize diagnostic tools and fleet maintenance software to track and document high-quality work
  • Maintain a professional, organized, and safety-driven work environment
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with drivers, supervisors, and the maintenance team
  • Drive class 8 commercial vehicles between locations
