About The Position

Waste Connections, Inc. is Hiring a Diesel Mechanic! We have an immediate opening for a high-energy Diesel Mechanic to join the team at our Miami facility. Previous waste experience is a huge plus! This position is night shift from 2 PM – 12 AM, Monday to Friday, with every other Saturday. Pay: $26.00 to 30.00/hr DOE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform repairs and assigned preventative maintenance services. Conduct inspections, diagnosis, and repair of electrical, hydraulics, suspension, brake, and air systems on vehicles and equipment. Utilize vehicle computer electronic systems to interpret failure modes to initiate or assign repairs. Complete required paperwork using fleet maintenance software programs to document repairs, parts usage, and repair times. Review, complete, or assign repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports. Conduct safety checks on vehicles and equipment. Perform service calls for emergency breakdowns. Maintain a clean, safe work environment in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards. WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT: Extensive physical activity, including strenuous physical work such as heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling objects over 50 pounds. Sometimes necessary to work in awkward or tight positions and handle greasy or dirty tools. Basic safety precautions must always be followed. MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS: Bilingual in English and Spanish is required. Minimum 5+ years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Must provide your own personal tools. Computer experience is required for using fleet maintenance software. Experience with DPF Regeneration systems on CUMMINS and MACK trucks is a plus. WHAT WE PROVIDE: PPE, toolboxes, rain gear, etc. provided to new employees. Quarterly allowances for tools ($300). Continuous training: Vendors come in to provide classes, ensuring you stay up to date with industry standards. Safety bonus program: Earn up to an additional $1,700 annually for meeting safety goals. Requirements
