Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Five years or more of related experience preferred but not required
  • Driver's License - Required
  • Extensive knowledge of all aspects of vehicle repair.
  • Excellent mechanical repair skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to visually diagnose mechanical issues.
  • Proficient with computer diagnostic equipment and software used internally through Action Traffic Maintenance.
  • Ability to read service and repair manuals.
  • Ability to perform repairs in a timely fashion.
  • Ability to read work orders.
  • Ability to utilize all Action Traffic Software to maintain records of work orders and fleet maintenance.
  • Works well in a team environment where situations and demands change daily.
  • Effective Communication Skills

Nice To Haves

  • Driver's License with CDL A or B- Preferred but not required
  • At Action Traffic's discretion, may consider an alternative combination of formal education and work experience.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies mechanical problems, either visually or with computer diagnostic equipment.
  • Performs tests on specific parts and systems to confirm proper mechanical function; ensures that all critical parts are examined.
  • Performs routine and preventive maintenance, including oil changes and tune-ups.
  • Repairs or replaces malfunctioning parts and systems, such as brake pads, belts, water pumps, transmissions, and other mechanical parts.
  • Inspect completed work to ensure proper functioning.
  • Inspect mechanical components of vehicles to identify problems.
  • Inspect mechanical equipment to locate damage, defects, or wear.
  • Lubricate equipment to allow proper functioning.
  • Maintain inventories of materials, equipment, or products.
  • Determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it.
  • Maintain repair or maintenance records.
  • Clean equipment, parts, or tools to repair or maintain them properly.
  • Dismantle heavy equipment or machinery.
  • Schedule repair, installation, or maintenance activities.
  • Performs further tests, including driving the vehicle, to ensure repairs are completed correctly.
  • Making Decisions and Solving Problems
  • Controlling Machines and Processes
  • Fit bearings to adjust, repair, or overhaul mobile mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment.
  • Schedule maintenance for industrial machines and equipment and keep equipment service records.
  • Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment and vehicles.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
