About The Position

Murrey’s Disposal, a Waste Connections company, is hiring a Swing Shift Diesel Mechanic in Fife, Washington. This role includes a $5,000 stay‑on bonus and offers competitive pay, consistent overtime, and excellent benefits. This position is ideal for experienced diesel mechanics and heavy truck technicians who want to grow their skills while working on a modern fleet of refuse trucks and maintaining yellow iron equipment at our transfer station. Compensation Hourly Pay: $35.00–$36.00/hour Shift Differential: +$1.50/hour CDL Bonus: +$1.00/hour for CDL holders Stay‑On Bonus: $5,000 Schedule: Monday–Friday, 3:00 PM–11:30 PM Overtime: Approximately 10 hours/week Waste Connections offers a comprehensive benefits package, including: Medical, dental, and vision insurance Flexible spending account (FSA) Long‑term and short‑term disability Life insurance 401(k) retirement plan with company match Paid time off and paid holidays Career development and advancement opportunities Key Responsibilities Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on diesel trucks and heavy equipment Diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems Use diagnostic tools and software to troubleshoot issues Maintain and repair yellow iron equipment (loaders, compactors, etc.) Conduct safety inspections and ensure OSHA compliance Address issues from Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIRs) Maintain accurate records using fleet maintenance software Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment Communicate effectively with drivers, supervisors, and team members Work Environment & Physical Requirements Working around large vehicles and heavy machinery Exposure to noise, grease, fumes, and outdoor conditions Standing, climbing, bending, and using diagnostic tools throughout the shift Lifting and moving items over 50 lbs as part of normal repair operations Minimum Qualifications At least 1 year of diesel mechanic or heavy truck repair experience Personal tools required Valid driver's license CDL preferred (or willingness to obtain within 90 days) Ability to read and interpret technical manuals Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills Welding experience is a plus Ability to work independently and as part of a team This is a safety‑sensitive position Why Work at Murrey’s Disposal? Requirements

  • At least 1 year of diesel mechanic or heavy truck repair experience
  • Personal tools required
  • Valid driver's license
  • CDL preferred (or willingness to obtain within 90 days)
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Nice To Haves

  • Welding experience is a plus
