A DAY IN THE LIFE AS A DIESEL MECHANIC This position is responsible for maintaining equipment including, but not limited to: diesel trucks, forklifts, vans, and passenger vehicles / pick-up trucks. The right candidate will be a motivated self-starter capable of diagnosing mechanical problems and performing necessary repairs. Additionally, organization skills and maintaining ample inventory of necessary preventative parts is required. A clean and neat shop is critical for accuracy and safety so the incumbent must be particularly organized. The incumbent must keep meticulous notes and maintenance records on the computer as well as paper files. Other duties may require travelling to parts of Connecticut, Eastern New York, or Rhode Island.

Requirements

  • CDL Class B license
  • Minimum 5 years' experience with diesel & gas engines, hydraulics and computer systems including International & Cummings
  • Clean Driving Record

Nice To Haves

  • ASE Certification is preferred
