About The Position

Diesel Mechanic- Class A Chesapeake, VA Full- time, 7am-4pm Givens – Driven To Deliver Givens is Driven To Deliver — both for our customers and our employees. Since 1957, Givens has provided customers a single-source solution for warehouse, distribution, transportation, packing and crating, and air freight services. We have been growing significantly over the last few years and continue to grow at a rapid pace. We are currently seeking a Class A Diesel Mechanic to help maintain our fleet of tractors, trailers, forklifts, and other equipment. This is a senior-level technician role responsible for advanced diagnostics, major repairs, and preventative maintenance to ensure maximum fleet uptime.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2+ years experience as a Class A Mechanic working on heavy-duty trucks, trailers, forklifts, or diagnostic and troubleshooting skills preferred
  • Experience with software such as Davie 4, Service Ranger, ESA, Diagnostic 8, Cummins is a plus
  • High school diploma preferred; vocational certification or apprenticeship strongly preferred
  • Associate degree is a plus
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • State Inspector license a plus
  • Must be computer literate and able to learn new systems
  • Ability to safely use hand tools, air tools, and electrical tools
  • Ability to frequently lift and move up to 100 lbs
  • Must be able to stand, walk, and work around, on top of, or under equipment
  • Team-oriented with a strong can-do attitude and willingness to learn

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with software such as Davie 4, Service Ranger, ESA, Diagnostic 8, Cummins is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair heavy-duty trucks, trailers, electric forklifts, and related equipment
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting on diesel engines, electrical systems, and ABS brake systems
  • Conduct routine preventative maintenance and inspections
  • Complete accurate maintenance documentation and parts requests
  • Utilize diagnostic software and tools to identify mechanical issues
  • Support shop efficiency and equipment readiness
  • Mentor or assist junior technicians as needed
