Requirements

  • Possess a valid US Class A driver's license preferred but not required
  • Qualified to perform DOT inspections and follow company preventative maintenance procedures.
  • At least 2 years of experience with emissions, aftertreatment systems, electrical, air conditioning, powertrain, hydraulics and suspension systems.
  • Experience with PTO's
  • Experience with Paccar, Cummins, Caterpillar and other Diessel engines.

Nice To Haves

  • Welding and metal fabricating experience a plus
  • Certified on brakes and air conditioning systems
  • Experience with tow trucks, tractor, and trailers electrical and hydraulic systems a plus
  • Specific experience with Cummins Insite, aftertreatment systems, and diesel scan tools a BIG PLUS

Responsibilities

  • Performs maintenance on Tow Trucks, semi tractors, trailers and able to complete DOT inspections.
  • Provide bumper-to-bumper preventive maintenance service and/or repair to tow trucks, tractors and trailers as established by company standards
  • Performs diagnostic tests on diesel engines and interpreting the results for resolution.
  • Repairs or replaces vehicle transmissions, brakes, clutches, outside engine components and other associated parts.
  • Orders parts, communicates status and annotates corrective actions
  • Ensures a safe work environment
  • Ability to handle various tools (e.g. pliers) and heavy equipment (e.g. lift)
  • Willingness to observe all safety precautions for protections against accidents, dangerous fluids, chemicals etc.
  • Perform FAI/CVI (Annual) (First Article Inspection - Commercial Vehicle Inspection) inspections on all fleet vehicles including tractors, trailers, converter dollies, light-duty vehicles, and any other company-owned equipment under the guidance of fleet technician II & III or fleet supervisor or manager in accordance with all federal, state and local legal and regulatory agencies. (Includes all state-required inspections and frequencies).
  • Address all driver vehicle inspection report write-ups timely, efficiently, and correctly
