About The Position

Overview PITT OHIO , a high service transportation solutions provider offering SUPPLY CHAIN, LTL and TRUCKLOAD services is seeking a Diesel Mechanic- 2nd Shift with tractor and trailer repair experience at our Hermitage, PA Terminal . Schedule Monday-Friday 2 PM-10:30 PM Compensation Base Pay Range: $28.09-$40.80 Actual compensation may vary due to factors such as experience, skill set and additional potential earnings. Responsibilities Diagnoses, troubleshoots, and repairs fleet equipment safely and correctly; Conducts failure analysis, repairs, and rebuilds fleet equipment components correctly; Informs management about housekeeping opportunities, harmful working conditions, and unsafe work practices, and suggests corrective actions; Identifies and informs management of broken tools and missing supplies required for performing repairs on fleet equipment, and takes steps to solve issue if possible; Correctly completes work orders and documents; Maintains a clean and safe work environment to ensure safety and compliance; Complies with company policies, procedures, and standards of ethics and integrity. Perform additional duties as assigned. Operate and inspect mechanical equipment to diagnose defects; Analyze malfunctions and perform general overhaul, tune up or preventive maintenance of equipment; Dismantle and reassemble equipment; Plan work procedure using charges, technical manuals and experience; Enter labor lines and parts into repair order computer system. OTHER DUTIES Travel to other company shop locations when staff is needed React to change productivity and handle other essential tasks as assigned

Requirements

Two years' verifiable experience in tractor and trailer inspection and repair OR a technical school degree, or certification in Heavy Duty Truck/Trailer Maintenance with one verifiable experience
A valid state-issued driver's license
Must pass DOT physical and drug screen
Command of English language to communicate effectively with internal and external customers
Knowledge of methods, materials, tools and techniques used in the repair and maintain a variety of heavy trucks and semi-trailers and other mechanical equipment is required
Basic hand tools are required
Must have working knowledge of the operating principles of diesel engines and repair of heavy trucks
Ability to maintain detailed time and parts used on work orders
Must possess excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to communicate to both internal and external customers
Computer skills needed for diagnostics.

Nice To Haves

A CDL, ASE and State and/or Federal inspection certification is preferred but not required
