About The Position

AFC Transportation, the largest and fastest-growing privately owned Charter Transportation Company in Texas, is seeking a qualified Diesel Technician and Bus Mechanic to join their Houston facility. The company operates a diverse fleet including diesel and gas-powered motor coach buses, school buses, transit buses, trolleys, mini buses, and vans. The position is safety sensitive and requires the mechanic to be able to work independently. Additional training programs are available.

Requirements

• At least 2 years' experience or technical training working on buses and diesel-powered vehicles
• High School diploma or equivalent
• Valid Driver's License
• Motor coach bus experience
• Understanding of diesel engines, tires, air brake systems, HVAC systems, and electrical systems
• Ability to perform necessary preventative maintenance and repair in all aspects of diesel engines, tires, air brake systems, HVAC systems, and electrical systems
• Ownership of basic hand tools
• Ability to work independently
• Dependable
• Adaptable/flexible
• Detail-oriented
• High stress tolerance

Nice To Haves

• Wheelchair lift experience
• Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications
• Commercial driver's license (CDL)
• Trash truck maintenance experience

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance inspections
• Perform emergency and road failure repairs
• Perform general maintenance on electrical, HVAC, brake and accessory systems
• Document all work completed and parts used
